Dear Gray,

Thank you for word on DonorsChoose.org, a site I hadn't visited till today. Lovely concept, isn't it? Equal opportunity philanthropy? Or a chance to put one's money where one's mouth is, if I may use this colloquialism without offending readers. A chance to give some kids who are still in public school a little boost with gifts such as books, not textbooks. How lovely, too, that the site offers a wide selection of funding proposals from which to choose, so that donors can give along lines that are in sync with their own ideas on education, keeping their gift separate from projects they perceive as having no merit.

Pax tecum,

Carlotta
