Now, I have to tell you this: There is a whole new way of school in Germany based on the Agenda 21, based on participation, encouraging responsability, learning from life and in nature – it is actually a movement already infecting all the German speaking countries, it is called “SCHULE IM AUFBRUCH” (like: school awakening) and it started in Berlin at the Evangelische Schule Berlin Zentrum (the protestant school in Berlin-Zentrum, an urban district). From all the federal countries in Germany politicians, officials of the ministry of education, principals, teacher, manager travel to Berlin to get trained BY STUDENTS and they all comment on this that they had never been so enthusiastic in their whole life, so inspired. This will solve ALL the problems in world – it is the answer to EVERYTHING!
Look at these links:
http://margretrasfeld.com/ (Margret Rasfeld is the principal of this school, there are two books that tell more about this school which desperately need to be translated in all the languages of the world as soon as possible, “EduAction” and “Schulen im Aufbruch – eine Anstiftung”)

I know what I am talking about as I have to children who went to a really, really hard time last year believing they would die from school…
It will still take some time to make the necessary transformation everywhere and as we live in the South, we are quite a distance away – literally – but I will put all my energy into helping the process to speed up and gain a foothold here.

Is the school based on Agenda 21 or was it created as a response to Agenda 21?
Do you feel Agenda 21 is beneficial or harmful to mankind?
My comment was incomplete: Stephan Breidenbach is founder and Dean of the Humboldt-Viadrina School of Governance in Berlin, an esteemed mediator and co-founder of betterplace.org.
The self-conception of the esbz is to pledge themselves to the challenges of the Agenda 21. The fundament is threefold: To learn to achieve knowledge, to learn to act and to learn to live together, They are also well aware of the influences of a hidden curriculum.
To add one more thing: There is also a book written by 3 of their students: How WE make school… – who should know better than the students themselves…?
By the way you have another interesting story a lot closer by (Margret Rasfeld and Peter Spiegel tell about this success in their book EduAction): The potential developping schools of the FUNDAEC foundation in Colombia, South America succesfully preventing the rural areas to drain out of people and gaining huge competences at the same moment.
